ಗೋವಾ ಮಾಜಿ ಸಿಎಂ ದಿವಂಗತ ಮನೋಹರ್ ಪರಿಕ್ಕರ್ ಅವರ ಪುತ್ರ ಉತ್ಪಲ್ ಪರಿಕ್ಕರ್ ಬಿಜೆಪಿಯನ್ನು ತ್ಯಜಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಪಣಜಿ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಿಂದ ಟಿಕೆಟ್ ಸಿಗೋದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದು ಬಿಜೆಪಿ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅಸಮಾಧಾನ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದ ಉತ್ಪಲ್ ಪಕ್ಷ ತ್ಯಜಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಪಣಜಿ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ತಾವು ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರ ಅಭ್ಯರ್ಥಿಯಾಗಿ ಕಣಕ್ಕಿಳಿಯುತ್ತಿರುವುದಾಗಿ ಉತ್ಪಲ್ ಪರಿಕ್ಕರ್ ಇದೇ ವೇಳೆ ಘೋಷಣೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿ ಸದ್ಯ ಬೇರೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಆಯ್ಕೆಗಳಿಲ್ಲ. ನಾನು ಪಕ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ರಾಜೀನಾಮೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದೆನೆ ಅಲ್ಲದೇ ನಾನು ಪಣಜಿ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಿಂದ ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರ ಅಭ್ಯರ್ಥಿಯಾಗಿ ಕಣಕ್ಕಿಳಿಯುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಉತ್ಪಲ್ ಪರಿಕ್ಕರ್ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಾನು ಅಧಿಕೃತವಾಗಿ ಬಿಜೆಪಿಗೆ ರಾಜೀನಾಮೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದರೂ ಸಹ ಬಿಜೆಪಿ ಎಂದಿಗೂ ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಉತ್ಪಲ್ ಪರಿಕ್ಕರ್ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಇದು ನನ್ನ ಪಾಲಿಗೆ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಕಷ್ಟಕರ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ನಾನು ಗೋವಾದ ಜನತೆಗಾಗಿ ಇವೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನನ್ನ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಯಾರೂ ತಲೆಕೆಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಚಿಂತಿಸಲು ಗೋವಾದ ಜನತೆ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಉತ್ಪಲ್ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
